I use nail trimming wheels with the self trimming gritty material.
mpeltoMar 21, 2020I use gritty material as well. I believe this to be the best material: https://www.homedepot.com/p/3M-Pro-Grade-Precision-4-1-2-in-x-10-1-2-ft-220-Grit-Fine-Ultra-Flexible-Sanding-Roll-29220PGP-UF-RL/205416174?mtc=Shopping-B-F_D24-G-D24-Multi-Multi-NA-Feed-SMART-NA-NA-All_Paint_Smart&cm_mmc=Shopping-B-F_D24-G-D24-Multi-Multi-NA-Feed-SMART-NA-NA-All_Paint_Smart-71700000048001153-58700004793621602-92700041080545816&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7tGaqIur6AIVFmKGCh2uRAUVEAQYASABEgLr6_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds It wraps around wheels easily and can withstand being soaked in steaming hot soapy water for easy cleaning. I am sad that attic worx has stopped producing wheels as I thought their freedom wheels were the best wheels produce thus far. I hope a manufacturer will eventually start producing a similar design but that it will instead utilize skateboard sized bearings (attic worx was not smart in this regard – skateboard bearings are more widely available and ceramic versions are easy to acquire so that water cleaning doesn't lead to ball bearing corrosion). When I first started having sugar gliders over 20 years ago, I used nail clippers. Having a proper wheel with gritty filing material is by the far solution to maintaining the nails of the sugar gliders in my opinion.
